the gathering place is a community-funded soup kitchen with no formal ties to any social service or religious organization. We are a not-for-profit organization and a registered charity. We issue tax receipts for all monetary donations of $10.00 and above.
We do not receive any operational funding from the federal, provincial or municipal governments. We occasionally apply for and receive small capital grants to purchase new equipment, but our entire operational budget is dependent upon donations from individuals, groups and businesses. We truly are a community-funded organization.
We have a warm, friendly, barrier-free building with an entry foyer, commercial grade kitchen, 29 seat dining room, three washrooms (one handicapped accessible) and a small office.
Monday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., including statutory holidays.

Since opening in September, 2003, an active pool of approximately 250 volunteers have prepared and served an increasing number of our neighbours in need. As of December 31, 2011 we have served 200,000 meals and are averaging 135 guests each day.
Did you know that for some soup kitchen patrons, this is their only meal of the day?
