the gathering place does not canvas for funds or food door to door or by telephone.
Your donation of $250.00 can provide everything needed to run the soup kitchen for one day. You can sponsor one or several days, either as an individual or as part of a group working together to provide the money.
In acknowledgement of your donation we can name you on our website and provide a link back to your own site, provide a Food for a Day Sponsor decal to display at your business or in your car window, and give you a tax receipt for the amount of the donation.
For a donation of $200.00 you can provide the funds needed to purchase milk for one month of the gathering place’s operation.
The milk is used for coffee and tea, given to any pregnant women and children who use our dining room, and served as a drink to our neighbours in need once each week. If there is sufficient milk left and we have the right ingredients, our cook prepares cream soups or dishes requiring milk.
In acknowledgement of your donation we write your name on the "Milk for a Month" board located in our dining room. If you prefer anonymity, we can use a name such as "People who care". You will receive a tax receipt for your donation.
We serve fresh salad to our neighbours in need every day. This requires 8 heads of lettuce. Lettuce Help You has five individuals commit to purchasing 8 heads of lettuce daily for one week and delivering them to the gathering place at 9:00 a.m. each day.
Alternatively, a group can donate the funds and designate that they are to be used to purchase lettuce for a week. Call the office and see how this program can work for you!
Choose the day or week you want to sponsor! We’re open for 260 days each year, so there’s plenty of choice. Perhaps you’d like to sponsor the birthday of a loved one, celebrate a graduation or wedding, or promote your company or group.
A donation in memory of a friend or loved one who has passed on is greatly appreciated by those bereaved. A card is sent to the family giving the name of the donor and offering condolences.
You can also get money to us by participating in one of our fundraisers, which are so important to us that they have their own page!
Due to extremely limited dry goods storage and freezer space, we ask that you contact us before organizing food drives, or purchasing food on our behalf. Donors who want to ensure their donation goes toward food are encouraged to purchase grocery store gift cards, which are available in various denominations, and have no expiry date.
Got buckets of pennies? We have volunteers who will happily roll them and deposit them in the bank. Donating loonies for Dress-down Fridays? Think of adding us to your list of charities.
Tax receipts are issued for any donation above $10.00.
